"Showstopping Love" inspiration board by Two Chic Chicks; 2/1/2013

“Showstopping Love” inspiration board by Two Chic Chicks; 2/1/2013

Valentine’s Day is just around the bend and with it comes thoughts of all things romantic. Our latest blog is inspired by all things love-related for the budget-conscious bride-to-be. With that in hand and taking a cue from the elegant affair that David Tutera, of “My Fair Wedding” fame, put together for his bride, Heather; we’ve come up with an inspiration board that will set your event in motion and make you the envy of Cupids the world over.

From the pink vellum invitation set, embossed with tonal double hearts to the romantic, floral-laden ceremony site, the tone of love is set. From there, the fashion continues to evoke the theme of love through the couture ASHLEYlauren bridesmaids’ dresses in a stunning fuchsia to the mother’s attire by Saison Blanche to the amazingly gorgeous – and oh, so feminine – wedding dress in a soft blush pink by Maggie Sottero. Then trip the light fantastic later in the evening in a sparkling creation by emerging designer, Shail K.

Your guests will feel like they’re a true part of your day of love at your reception thanks to the little special touches such as a menu that includes a pink peppercorn-crusted mahi mahi and an artfully crafted wedding cake in the shades of your wedding theme. The multitude of pink and red shades all throughout the decor echo the Cupid-esque theme while a candy buffet filled with assorted candies in all shades of pink and a cotton candy bar that will spin out assorted gourmet flavors to tempt your guests’ sweet tooth.

Close out the night with a special tribute of a donation made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in honor of your special day and share a little sunshine in someone else’s life!

Hugs & High Heels,

Kay and Kimberly

"Walking in a Winter Wonderland" inspiration board; Two Chic Chicks Boutique - 1/19/2013

“Walking in a Winter Wonderland” inspiration board; Two Chic Chicks Boutique – 1/19/2013

This week’s styleboard  is for all the gals who love cold weather and all that comes with it! Personally, we’re little “hothouse flowers”, but we will admit that we do enjoy the pristine beauty of snowdrifts and the way that snowflakes sparkle as they flutter down.

Winter weddings are extremely elegant affairs, especially since they occur around the holidays when everything is festive and bright. Even if your event is scheduled after the main part of the holidays, the day can still be super elegant as well as esthetically clean.

For our board, we started with a palette of silver, white, ice blue and turquoise. A billowy one-shoulder gown is a perfect apparel piece to give you the feel of being in snowdrift while the icy blue dresses for your attendants mimic the winter sky. Snowy white stoles added to their ensembles will coordinate nicely with the snowflake bracelets that you present to them as your gift of gratitude before you all walk down the aisle, while you carry an unique bouquet of feathers, crystals and pearls. To finish everyone’s attire, dress the men in your wedding party in classically-cut tuxedos in soft silvery grey.

Once your guests have been summoned to your event with invitations that announce your wintery-themed nuptials celebrate all night long in a winter wonderland complete with an ice bar and assorted white birch trees. Soft silver and turquoise uplighting gives the feel of being inside of an ice castle while the various white floral arrangements look like snow sculptures. Your menu would be a warm welcome to your guests’ palettes with a signature cocktail like a White Russian and a filling entree of lacquered duck with winter vegetables. A towering confection of sweetness will both offer a visual sight with its offset layers while fulfilling everyone’s desire for a sweet finish to the meal.

To entertain your guests and keep the party rolling, a dance and theatre troupe outfitted in costumes of Jack Frost and friends while an ice bar adds a unique touch to the festivities. Before hitting the dance floor, change into a fully sequined Red Carpet-worthy evening gown. When the party winds down, you & your groom can drive off in the sunset in a rented Rolls orr other exotic car, but not before gifting your guests with a token of affection that is both unusual and useful.

Styleboard designed by Two Chic Chicks Boutique LLC; January 4, 2013

After spending the holidays, relaxing with family & friends, we are back on track with all things work-related. Over Christmas break, we found time to catch up on some older episodes of “My Fair Wedding” and were really impressed with David’s 1950’s Glamour Gal wedding that he designed for his bride, Coryn.

Since the majority of us are unable to grab a planner like David Tutera for our own events, we scoured the web for similar elements used in his portfolio so that you can recreate your own venue both on the fly and in your budget!

Elegance is celebrrated throughout the entire event and it’s seen through even the littlest touches. The celebration leading up to the big day starts off with the perfect stationery in a classic black-and-white color scheme announcing your nuptials and then it progresses to the simple elegance of the ceremony space, with its clean lines and echoing color scheme that is further enhanced by the bridesmaids’ classic attire. Pops of color are found in the vibrant bouquets and the unexpected – yet totally fashionable – blush wedding gown and ethereal cage veil. After the ceremony, continue to express your love of timeless elegance with a reception venue at a beautiful ballroom, completed with sparkling chandeliers, a classic big band and a meal fit for a Queen. Top off the evening on a sweet touch with a gorgeous cake echoing your color scheme of black, white and fuchsia and send your guests off fater the fete with tasty jellybean treats!

School resumes it schedule next week, heralding the start of new and exciting things for 2013 and the return to classrooms of every kind. Whether you who found your true love while playing on the jungle gym or roaming the halls thr halls of academia, our latest inspiration styleboard has something for you!

Since Kay found her Prince Charming while in school [they were high school sweethearts], we decided to give a shout-0ut to anyone else that is celabrating a love found over homework – whether you met as students or as faculty. Yep… we heard that extremely audible gasp and we have to let a secret out that teachers do have personal lives. It was a shocker to us too!

With a color palette of red, green and black with splashes of yellow; we recreated the basic classroom setting – complete with blackboard accents in the place settings and the wedding day rememberance plaque. Red bridesmaids’ dresses by Alfred Sung add a pop of color to the wedding party, while the featured style has a retro-chic vibe that your gals will adore.

Resource List & Shopping Guide:

It’s been a while since we did a style board, due in part to taking a much-needed break from everything for the entire summer. It was a rest that was extremely needed due to our super-hectic schedules. We’re back from our sabbatical and in addition to catching up on our missed correspondance, we’re also catchinig up with our back episodes of “My Fair Wedding“.

For this episode, the ever-awesome, Mr. David Tutera brought a modern-day spin to his bride Sno E’s big day (yes, it’s her real name).  Poor Sno wanted to have a wedding that was inspired by her name and the fact that her parents named her after the iconic fairy tale heroine, but her efforts at putting together a wedding day worthy of a princess was coming up less than beautiful.

After taking a hard look at everything that she had tried to compose, David reached into his impressive bag of tricks and put together a completely gorgeous event that was fresh, modern and elegant while still paying homage to her namesake and her overall vision. With that in mind, we came up with some accessible options for today’s bride on a budget. With soft canary yellow bridesmaids’ dresses; a tasty gourmet menu; and even a candy apple / caramel apple bar for your guests to make their own favors, you’ll have plenty of options that can easily be incorporated into any part of your day. With these ideas, you’ll find the inspiration and the vendors to help make your snow white-themed wedding a romantic and affordable event!

Resources and Shopping Guide:

We’re SO excited about the new collection by Bill Levkoff – it’s absolutely GORGEOUS, as usual! Our latest style board is inspired by  a past episode of “My Fair Wedding”, featuring the ever-impressive, Mr. David Tutera. For that episode’s challenge, he was faced with the task of bringing his bride Monique’s butterfly and rainbows-inspired wedding from the kindergarten-esque turn it was heading into a more sedate and elegant affair. Now, while the concept of having butterflies as a main wedding theme is absolutely fabulous, it’s also a theme that can go from glam to kitschy in the blink of an eye, mostly because there is just SO much stuff out there that’s butterfly-themed that one can truly go overboard without even trying to do so.

The trick to making a butterfly-themed event an elegant success is to play up the delicate nature of the butterfly, but to do so with a light touch and don’t give in to the temptation to get too heavy-handed. You don’t have to have everything completely smothered in butterflies. Try looking at some of the colors and using those along with the images of the butterflies so that you end up with a more cohesive palette. You can also play up the spring/butterfly theme in your menu, such as with the starter of rainbow chard or having the cotton candy martini as a signature drink.

Taking a cue from Mr. David, we decided to see how well we could come up with a butterfly/sky themed idea board and we think we did pretty darn well, if we may say so! {Patting ourselves on the backs}. Here’s some of our selections to work into your special event as well as where to find them on the web! We know you’ll have a ton of fun putting your butterfly party together!
